House Sitting

We traveled to Wakulla County to help Ahma watch a friend's house and dog for a few days. It's a five hours drive, so we stopped for lunch in a park by the Suwannee River in Fanning Springs. Caterpillar Girl throws a penny into the Suwannee for good luck.

Caterpillar Girl loved being out in the country with no cars and people around to worry about. She was free to wander throughout the yard, and

run around naked.

The beach is more wild, for Caterpillar Girl, it was a little bit scary. She spent a lot of time in Mimi's arms. (Yes, I have embraced her new name for me.)

Part of the marshy grassland has a boardwalk to traverse.

We also visited Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, which is simply gorgeous. The area we visited is protected, and the only way to see the river is to take the boat ride offered by the park service. It was an amazing trip during which we saw dozens of alligators, a handful of manatees, and too many birds to count. The guide had extensive knowledge of the flora, fauna, and history of the area. Plus there is a swimming area (too cold for us though) and a playground.

Spooky Fun!

Last night, we went to Halloween Spooktacular, a free event at a local park. It was a mob scene, so most pictures are from before we set out. Caterpillar Girl was fascinated with all the children the children and especially, dogs, in costume. Sometimes she would recognize a costume and would run over to the children wearing a particular costume to say hi. She liked pumpkins and bees the most, and there were quite a few children dressed as both.

Caterpillar Girl wore the leprechaun costume that Mommy made for her.

Daddy looked spiffy as a cowboy, complete with hat from his recent business trip to San Antonio.

Mommy was a good witch.

She traveled through the event by wagon,

and had the best seat for the "Smuppets" show. She was enthralled by the marionettes of monsters and spooks.

Today and Last Year, Too

Caterpillar Girl and Ahma went to the zoo together in the morning, which is exactly what we all did last year. It's amazing to remember that Caterpillar Girl's first zoo trip was one year ago from this date.

This year, she decorated the wrapping paper for Ahma's gift . . .
and carried her the present all by herself.

A big hug for Ahma before we head out for dinner and a trip to the interactive Disney store(which turned out to be less exciting than it sounds).

Caterpillar Girl wants to check out the tam that Mommy knitted.
Doesn't it look great oh Ahma?

Reading

Caterpillar Girl loves reading and loves her baby, so I had to snap a picture of her reading to her baby. Notice how she is helping the baby point to the pictures on the page. She babbles so sweetly while reading the story.

ZooBoo

The local zoo holds a series of Halloween-themed night events. We attended with some friends. Caterpillar Girl doesn't have a completed costume yet (Mommy hasn't finished making it!), but she wore her scary spider shirt,
and played in the pumpkin patch with her vampire friend.

We visited several haunted houses. Daddy protected Caterpillar Girl from ghosts, goblins, and other creepy crawlies.

Daddy and Caterpillar Girl got snatched by a bat,
but got free in time for Caterpillar Girl to take the train with Mommy!

And of course, we traveled by the little red wagon.

By 10 pm, Daddy and Caterpillar Girl were ready to put up their feet and watch the older kids playing in the fountain.

Veggie Fest

We attended the first Vegetarian Fest downtown this past weekend. It was a lovely day for just walking around.
Caterpillar Girl donned her bathing suit to play in the fountain.

Outdoor lunch in thai restaurant topped off the morning.
